We are off to the British Virgin Islands to soak up some warm Caribbean Sunshine. For 7 days (28 December 2009 to 04 January 2010), we will be sailing from island to island in search of adventure. Along the way we will be: snorkeling or scuba diving, exploring Tortola and all the other islands in the British Virgin Islands. Each island is unique with it's own remote beaches, tropical jungle-like interior and small island towns. By the end of the trip, we will have seen most if not all of the islands in the area. While there will be a basic itinerary, it is only for planning purposes. We will decide each morning exactly how the day will unfold. If we find sunken treasure, all bets are off!

You will be part of a crew on a 36'-40' sailboat where you will eat, sleep and base most of your activities from. As crew you will have some responsibilities on board. Be it steering the boat, working the mainsail and gib sheets or helping with cleaning duties, we will work together to ensure everything gets done in a timely fashion to maximize everyone's fun!

******** We are working on a quote with boat charter company but probably somewhere around $1500 per person. Price will include lodging, transportation and meals while on the boat. BYOB If you have been on the Catalina Island Expedition, you know that the food is awesome on our floats. You will need to fly into St. Thomas or Puerto Rico then to Tortola.********

We did a land version of this trip 3 years ago and it was amazing. The water version will be much more interesting and laid-back. Be sure to check out all the video of swimming with the fish and off the RMS Rhone! http://www.vimeo.com/...

Probable stops
JOST VAN DYKE, four miles long, is truly the "barefoot" island known by travelers around the world for its casual lifestyle, protected anchorages, fine beaches and beachfront restaurants and bars. Picture-postcard tropical isles, like Green Cay and Sandy Spit.

RMS RHONE - If you only have time for one dive trip in the BVI, the RMS Rhone is it. Dive BVI have been leading dives on this spectacular wreck since 1975. Numerous artifacts deposited on October 29, 1867 are still visible today. You'll also see where the 1977 film classic The Deep was shot and get to swim through the amazingly intact bow section as well as under the stern near the large 15 ft propeller. You really get a feel for the size of the RMS Rhone when you swim down the length of the massive driveshaft towards the engine box and gears. No matter how many times you dive on the Rhone, you can still find something new.

VIRGIN GORDA - Giant granite boulders lean against each other while clear pools of water flow through and beneath. Light angles in from above, creating one of the Caribbean’s most stunning spectacles of natural beauty. Explore the labyrinth formed by the boulders, and then enjoy a swim or snorkel in crystal clear water at one of the pocket beaches framed by the boulders.

NORMAN ISLAND - Norman island offers two great snorkeling experiences: The Caves and The Indians. The Caves of Norman Island are the legendary location of buried pirate treasure. Rising from the water, their cavernous mouths invite the adventurous snorkeler to explore walls encrusted with cup corals and brilliantly colored sponges. The reduced lighting in the caves brings out some colors ordinarily seen only at night. The Indians are pinnacle rock formations off Pelican Island. Their name derives from their similarity to the feathers of an Indian bonnet. This not-to-be-missed site is rich with sea-life, including a shallow “fish bowl” where swirling clouds of silver bait fish are pursued by jacks and snappers.

A $721.22 DEPOSIT will hold your spot. The balance of the $2336/person is due 15 October 2009.
