Overview: Imagine taking in the coastal views of the Gaviota area by horseback. The views are amazing with the coastline to the west and winery, agricultural views to the east. In the summit area, a 360 view is possible.
Once we get to the summit we will be taking in a picnic lunch, horseshoes and maybe cowboy roping. It is okay to just take in the breath taking view!
With lunch settled, we will remount the horses and head back to the corral.

The Plan: We need to be in Gaviota by 11:15 AM. Between 11:30AM and 12noon we will fill out waivers and be assigned horses. Our ride begins at Noon. The ride to the summit picnic area takes about 1.5 hours. Lunch will take about an hour and the ride down half an hour. We should be done by 3:15PM.

Those of you who are on the wine tour will board the van and be driven to the hotel to check in and get ready for the rest of your adventure.

We highly encourage you to carpool as Santa Barbara is 100 miles each way and Gavoita about 20 miles outside of Santa Barbara. Use the RSVP and comment sections of this event to make it happen.

Time Required: This is an all day event. Consider leaving the West-Side by 8AM. This will allow ample time to drive up with coffee, gas and bio breaks as required. Don't even think about being late. Allow for 4.0 hours on the trail and for paperwork. The drive back is subject to miserable Santa Barbara going home traffic. It is usually worse on Sunday but depending on when you leave Saturday it could be a factor.

Difficulty: This is a ride for all levels. Everyone asks to if they can gallop and cavort about like a cowboy or cowgirl - not this event. While the horses aren't nose to butt this isn't a horse gymkhana either. It will be an amazing experience with amazing views and a bunch of very cool SCOA people!

What's included: horseback ride along the Gaviota coastline, lunch (deli sandwiches, chips, fruit salad, drink of your choice (non-alcoholic) and a cookie) and a SCOA t-shirt. Please tell us what size you wear. Yes we have lady's t-shirts. They are American Apparel. They come in white.
