The Plan:
That's right a little something for everyone! Afternoon BBQ and beers on the patio will start just after noon. BRING YOUR OWN. At the same time, SCOA paddlers will be finishing the decorations on our kayaks down in the garage and preparing to paddle.

Around 3:30, SCOA paddlers will start moving the boats down the street to the launch ramp and everybody else can join us on the sidewalks and bridges in the canals to cheer us on. Wander through the canals and check out the amazingly decorated houses, with special attention to the gingerbread houses at the northeastern corner of the canals. (At the junction of Eastern and Carroll Canals).

The canals are shallow so an inflatable mattress and broom handle to push yourself along are probably all you need if you don't mind getting wet.

We'll wrap up at the canals around 7pm and resume the party back at Micheal's place.

The Venue:

Venice Beach - Michael Gat's place right in the middle of it all.

Food: Bring your own
Grillables - stuff for the bbq meatasourus and vegetarian food - or whatever
Drinkables - It's on you

Logistics:
Get there early. Traffic can be a bear to park. With that said, there is a parking lot across the way from Micheal's house.

Cost:
The $BYO

Note:
This signup does not include sea kayaks for paddling. Paddling is a separate sign-up.

Paddlers: Wear layers. You are likely to be sitting in the kayak for a couple of hours. Consider gloves. Also please bring some comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting a bit wet. The launch ramp is pretty good, but accidents happen. We will seal the drain holes on the kayaks so no water will get in. Space will be available to change and clean up after the parade. Finally, it's somewhat of a tradition for boaters to throw candy to the crowd. Anything small in individual wrappers is good.

Weather will remain unstable through Saturday night but looks to clear up by Sunday afternoon. With luck this will give us another amazing sunset over the canals, just like last year. The BBQ will be fired up about 12:30 and I'll have some of "the basics" available along with some beer wine soft drinks and bar stuff. Feel free to bring anything else you'd like. Bring a warm layer for watching the parade. Oh, and please bring any ipods you have with good party music on them.

432 N Venice Blvd is across from the intersection of N. Venice and Mildred, it's a set of bright-colored buildings. The name on the intercom is GAT, just hit #4 and we'll let you in. Street parking is usually available or you can park in the lot at Venice and Pacific. For those of you who are feline-sensitive, I'll clean the place well in the morning and put the beasts downstairs if necessary. Let me know. They tend to hide from crowds in any case. Claritin will be available at the door.

Just to re-re-clarify: I'm throwing a party before and after the boat parade. All paddlers and others are welcome. Rather than charging people (which proved unpopular) It's a BYO type party. Bring something, everbody else will bring something, and it'll all even out in the end...
